Caregiving demographics:

• 17% of the population is 65 or older.
• By 2020, it is expected that 26% of the population will be 65 or older. 
• Japanese life expectancy is the longest in the world (77 yrs. for men, 84 yrs. for women).
• About half of the elderly in Japan live with their children, the highest rate of all industrialized nations.
