Population: 9 million Caregiving demographics:
At present, no data exist on the number of carers in Sweden (but will be available later in 2003). However, a very rough estimate indicates that there are about 250,000 elderly in Sweden who are able to age in place thanks to family caregivers. Unmet needs/future legislative initiatives: The Government has been addressed by the standing committee of Social Affairs (in 2002) to report on the economic consequences of introducing an entitlement to supportive services for caregivers in the Social Services Act. |
