Dr. Feylyn Lewis is the incoming Hunt Research Director at the National Alliance for Caregiving. Through summer 2021, she is completing a research fellowship at the University of Sussex. Her post-doctoral research investigates the mental health well-being of adolescent young caregivers in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, and Slovenia. A native of Hendersonville, Tennessee and graduate of Vanderbilt University, she is a nationally certified mental health counselor. Her doctoral research at the University of Birmingham focused on the identity development of young adult caregivers living in the United Kingdom and United States. During Feylyn’s childhood, her older brother was a caregiver for her and their mother who has a physical disability. This experience motivated Feylyn to pursue research and advocacy work for young caregivers.
