YongJoo Rhee

YongJoo Rhee is an associate professor for the Department of Health Sciences at Dongduk Women’s University, Seoul, Korea. Before joining Dongduk Women’s University in 2011, she worked as research faculty at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Northwestern University – Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago in the United States.  Her research interest areas are caregiving, end-of-life care, outcome evaluation and mental health issues (dementia, depression).  Her main research interest is exploring health policy and system issues for the older adults to promote home death, and finding a way to providing better quality of care integrating medical services and community care.  She published a paper for a project to integrate medical and social services for the older frail Koreans to develop community care funded by Korean Institute for Health and Social Affairs.  She is currently working on a project for caregiving demand projections and their economic values for the older Koreans until 2065 in collaborating with Care Policy and Policy Evaluation Centre of London School of Economics and Political Science. She has been working with diverse international collaborators; the End-of-Life Care Research Group of Ghent University and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (International Place of Death, IPoD), Monash University, Clinical Outcomes Research group (depression productivity adjusted life years, PALYs). YongJoo received an M.P.H. Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea and Dr.P.H. from the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, USA.
