Strengthening American Families: Programs & Policies to Support Family Caregivers
Family caregivers are the backbone of our nation’s healthcare system and economy. With more than 53 million Americans providing care across every state and community, many important federal programs offer family caregivers – and those they serve — a variety of support in order to keep their loved ones at home, versus having to move them to costly institutional care. With the proper support, many family caregivers can continue to work and care for their family members in a way that offers higher quality, personalized care, dignity and “choice” for the individual. Whether it is a parent caring for a child with complex health care needs, or a sister caring for her brother with intellectual disabilities, or a son caring for his father with Alzheimer’s disease, they all need support.
Join the National Alliance for Caregiving – and partners from across the care continuum – for a briefing on some of the key federal programs that family caregivers rely upon. Join us on June 12th as we discuss how family caregivers receive support from Medicaid, Medicare and the Older Americans Act.
