Kelly Shaffer, PhD

Dr. Shaffer is an Associate Professor in the Center for Behavioral Health and Technology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, as well as the co-lead of the Cancer Prevention and Population Health research program in the University of Virginia Comprehensive Cancer Center. She is a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in digital health intervention development and evaluation. Funded by the NCI and NCATS, her research aims to expand access to psychosocial care to people with cancer and their families through scalable and effective technology-based interventions. She has led US-national studies of digital health interventions for the management of insomnia among caregivers (R21TR003522, NCT04986904), as well as impacts of breast cancer treatment on couples’ sexual functioning (R37CA269776, NCT06216574).
