Care connects us. But the connection starts with being seen.

More than 63 million Americans provide ongoing care for a family member, friend, or loved one. They are parents, spouses, children, siblings, friends, neighbors, and colleagues balancing caregiving with work, family, their own health, and everyday life. Yet too often, caregivers remain invisible in the policies and systems that shape their lives.

This National Family Caregivers Month, the National Alliance for Caregiving (NAC) is making caregiving visible by recognizing caregivers and the care they provide, sharing their stories, connecting their experiences to the shared realities of care, and calling for the support, policies, and systems they need to thrive.

Because when we see caregivers, we can better understand what they need. When we understand their experiences, we can connect them to support. And when we turn those experiences into action, we can change the systems that shape care.

Making Caregiving Visible

This November, we invite our partners, organizations, communities, and individuals to help make family caregiving visible. Use our National Family Caregivers Month toolkit for ideas, ready-to-share resources, and ways to join the conversation. Share a caregiver’s story. Recognize the caregivers in your life. Amplify the realities of caregiving. And help ensure caregivers are seen not only for what they provide, but for who they are.

Every story, statistic, conversation, and show of support helps more people see the caregivers in their lives and understand why they need to be recognized, supported, and valued. But visibility must lead to action. We must translate awareness into stronger policies, better support systems, and meaningful change for family caregivers.

This November, help us make caregiving visible, make caregivers valued, and make their needs impossible to overlook. Use the toolkit, join the conversation, and take action to ensure family caregivers are seen, heard, and supported all year long.
