1997 Report
Caregiving in the U.S. 1997
Numerous studies have been conducted on various aspects of informal (unpaid) or family caregiving of older adults.
Nationwide information on the magnitude, intensity, and types of informal caregiving provided, however, together with its physical, emotional and financial repercussions, has been lacking. In particular, similarities and differences among racial/ethnic groups with respect to caregiving practices and the impact of informal caregiving on caregivers’ lives have not been systematically studied on a nationwide basis.
