November is National Family Caregivers Month, a time to honor and celebrate the millions of people who provide care to loved ones every day. This year, NAC invites you to help us recognize the vital contributions of family caregivers through our 2025 theme: Plug in to Care.
Caregivers make our communities, economy, and society work. Millions of people depend on family caregivers every single day. And these caregivers keep showing up.
According to Caregiving in the US 2025, the number of family caregivers has grown by nearly 50% over the last decade, now totaling 63 million adults nationwide. Their work is essential, but too often it comes at the cost of their health, finances, and well-being.
Key stats from Caregiving in the U.S. 2025:
- 63 million Americans provide ongoing, complex care
- Two-thirds of caregivers report moderate to high emotional stress
- Nearly half face negative financial impacts, with the greatest strain on Black, Latino, and rural caregivers
- 24% provide 40 or more hours of care each week
- 61% say their work life is affected by caregiving responsibilities
This year’s theme, ‘Plug in to Care,’ is about bringing caregivers into the systems and spaces they need to continue doing this amazing work.
- Policy: Drive systems change through advocacy and legislative action.
- Solutions: Build caregiver-friendly communities and workplaces.
- Support: Expand access to respite care, training, and tax credits
- Innovation: Ensure new caregiving tools and models are funded and accessible
- Equity: Address disparities and uplift diverse caregiver voices
Throughout November, NAC will be sharing resources, stories, and opportunities to take action.
