Dr. Courtney A. Polenick is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan and a Faculty Associate in the Aging & Biopsychosocial Innovations Program of the Survey Research Center at the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research. She has a PhD in Human Development and Family Studies from The Pennsylvania State University and completed her NIMH-funded T32 postdoctoral training in geriatric mental health services research at the University of Michigan. Dr. Polenick’s research focuses on family relationships and caregiving in the context of complex care needs including dementia and multimorbidity. She is particularly interested in understanding family influences in everyday life that shape the health and well-being of older adults and their care partners. Her long-term goal is to inform interventions and policies that mitigate stress and promote resilience among older adults living with complex care needs and their families.
