The World Carers Conversation 2022 Convened May 19, 2022

World Carers Conversation returned May 19, 2022 as a global, virtual event with the support of EMD Serono and Embracing Carers. Innovators, researchers, policymakers and carer advocates from around the globe learned about advancements in the field, got inspired, and made connections that matter for the future of carers everywhere. This virtual summit highlighted innovations in caregiving research, practice and policy from around the world.

As the uncertainty around the future of the global COVID-19 pandemic continues, support for carers remains critical. A number of important insights and priorities emerged in the two dozen caregiver stories and caregiving sessions that made up the event, including the global need for:

Caregiver acknowledgment. Carers have a significant impact on the person receiving care, their community and society. Investing in caregivers starts with acknowledging all that they do.

Caregiver health resources. Carers have specific health risks and needs, including mental health needs. Carers require access to healthcare and other supports to maintain their personal wellness and ability to continue to partner in care.

Financial security for caregivers. Carers needs pathways to navigate caring without negative economic impacts including supports to remain at work and return to work.
